Drop Bar V-Brake levers for oversize bars

  • Do these exist? I'm having trouble finding them.

  • Oversize has nothing to do with it. Drop bars are 99% the same size at the point where the brake lever clamps. Tektro make some.

Unless you're talking about those Cyclo-cross style levers that clamp up near the stem (where is is oversize). Dunno if they're available in V-brake pull.

  • so are oversize bars not fatter all the way along?

  • Nope. Only at the stem and either side about 50mm. Then they're stepped or tapered down to about 22mm (someone correct me - is that the MTB bar size?).

Brake lever clamps (for normal drop bar brakes) are all the same size. I've seen thinner bars for ladies but they usually have shims for the brake levers.

  • thanks for this,

  • Get the Tektro RL340 brake levers, they work really well with V brakes and they also have a quick release on the lever, useful with V's. I know this isn't you origional question but they are ace

  • or just get some of these:

and use any drop bar brake (short pull) with vbrakes (long pull)

  • Where possible I'd avoid travel agents. They're fiddly as fuck.

  • Thread dredge....

Any options for drop bar levers for v-brakes beyond tektro/cane creek? Gevenalle perhaps? I'm looking for more of a Shimano/SRAM shaped lever for my hands. Am I really stuck with the travel agent option?
