  • S'all true. Scientists have known it for ages. Need protein? Liver makes it. Need sugar? Liver makes it.

    gluconeogenesis can occur in the Kidneys and Intestines too.

    Also, when your body would not rely on just gluconeogenesis to generate "fuel" as it relies on substances which are in short supply.

    Your body will enter ketosis and start using fat stores for fuel.

    (I dont actually know much about the details of all this, complex biochemistry)
