Yes, that was her only mistake.
They call it an electric bicycle in the text, there's no pedals from what I can see.
It didn't say electric bike in the text till someone complained to the beeb about it being factually incorrect.
They also change the subject from cyclist to bike rider.
Can anyone with a better screen tell me if they can see an exhaust pipe?

why on earth did she keep hold of the handlebars? she'd have stayed on her feet if she let go.
I am guessing it is probably one of her most valuable possessions, the whole thing happened in a split second, not much time to think things through.

Can you imagine how risky it's going to be just walking into a cinema, a little late, and a shooting scene kicks off on screen? It's only a matter of time before some poor fucker gets blown away for wielding a pump action super sized hot dog...

As an individual, if you feel at risk of gun crime, getting a gun legally and training yourself would seem like an adequate step toward defending yourself.
If others were armed in the cinema he might have been stopped. Obviously the whole thing wouldn't have happened were he not armed, but therein lies the problem.
Legal access to guns in itself doesn't lead to increased gun crime. Most notably Canada has a much higher gun ownership than the US and a much lower level of gun crime.
We shouldn't be so quick as to dismiss america's gun problem as down to a blasé attitude toward gun ownership. They have are impassioned about their 2nd amendment rights, have rigorous licencing in most states, and have an ongoing national debate on it.

No no...
I don't think anyone dismissed the problem as being a blase attitude to gun ownership.
I think the problem is down to the fact it is a nation of slack jaw'd idiots**ScientificallyProvenToBeTrue

Are all the slack jawed idiots only confined to the USA?

evidently not.
