Stolen bikes

was watching a film today with a couple of my friends in hammersmith so locked up my bike pretty safe up by the hammersmith town hall
on finishing my film saw two suspicious kids near my bike i didnt think much about it at first but on approaching my bike i saw they were trying to unscrew my thomson bolts connecting to my zoncolan saddle so i picked up a cone from the roads and bash one of them in the back my friends chase the other away

did i do wrong?

because one of the council people said they going to report me to the police so i just rode away

Yes, you did do wrong, cones are flimsy. You should of used something more solid and aimed for their napes.
