Good one, Alex/tika. Make sure you talk to Cycling Club Hackney, too. With polo, road riding, grasstrack, BMX, and probably other things, too, there's now so much cycle sport going on in Hackney that people are really spoilt for choice!

It's a fantastic track for something so close to central London. When I lived in Bow I had many fun summer evenings there, when the track had just been finished. Good luck to Hackney BMX, and thank you for the effort you no doubt have already put in to having the track made. If it's dry on Wednesday I will try and make it over.

Hello Just wanted to put the word out that we are having a Track Maintenance Day this Sunday 22nd July 2012 from 12pm.
We need as many willing hands as possible. For more information please email hello AT hackneybmx DOT com
There will be a BBQ afterwards (bring your own meat - we'll bring the grills).
Thanks
Hackney BMX Club is still in it's early stages but we wanted to just introduce ourselves to the forum and let anyone interested know about what we're doing and how we run our club.
Background
Access Sport and British Cycling are happy to announce the opening of a new BMX club for the Borough of Hackney which is accompanied by the redevelopment of the existing BMX track in Haggerston Park, Hackney, East London.
As part of the 'BMX Legacy Project', Haggerston is one of five new tracks being built in the host Boroughs of the 2012 Olympics.
Commenting upon the BMX Olympic Legacy, BMX World Champion Shanaze Reade said “BMX is my life and passion. I was a young kid when I got into racing so I am right behind Access Sport and British Cycling’s project to create 5 new BMX clubs in East London.’

Hackney BMX Club invites BMX riders of ages 5-18 to join us for regular racing on the new track. We meet every Sunday* from 10am - 12pm. We have bikes, helmets, gloves and protective gear available to all riders. Cost is £2 for members and £3 for non-members. Membership is £10 per year.
