2012-09-01 Sat 8am - Moar Bournemouth - (100 Club)

Sup?

I like this route and summer may rear it's cheeky head by September... so imma gonna ride to Bournemouth. Plan is to meet at Waterloo around 8am, quick train to the Suburbs, and ride some bikes to the sandy beaches of Bournemouth. Barring any problems we should arrive during daylight (but please bring some lights!), and so all have time to unwind with coke and hookers, before trains back into London.

The idea is to have a nice chilled day in the saddle, with occasional pain, and eat up some country lanes. Average speed circa 15mph, but nobody will be left behind. However if you find 50ish miles tough on your steed of choice then you might struggle on this. Anyway, if you fancy coming along have a read of the following blurb.

Self-sufficiency
Bring tools, spare tubes, appropriate clothes, plenty of food and water, lights, batteries, etc. Familiarise yourself with the route, swap numbers before departing, and charge your phone. Eat/drink little and often.

Check your bike
Give it a look over before the ride – tighten, inflate, oil, stroke, kiss, and make sure it’s roadworthy.

Road etiquette
Try to remain vigilant on the country lanes, especially when navigating blind corners. Let others know when you are slowing or coming past, and for the benefit of those behind you, call out or point at hazards such as potholes and cars. If you have a puncture, mechanical or drop off the back, call out to those in front to wait, and unless they hate you, they’ll pass the message forward. Don't go off the front as it splits the group, unless it's a major hill, in which case we will always stop and regroup at the top where there will be an awards ceremony.

Thanks to Tommy(The Brick) for much of the route, which i'll be tweaking shortly, and unless the forecast is torrential rain and gale-force winds the ride will go ahead regardless of the weather.

Anyway, I have no idea what I'm doing in September as it is much too far in the future for me. But if you can promise coke and hookers on arrival then I'll bear it in mind.

I'm from bournemouth but can always meet up with you guys at the train station. Will be the first time I'm doing this sort of thing, although by no means new to cycling. Will be checking back for updates.

I think I may have misunderstood. I thought you guys are getting the train from london to bournemouth and then cycling round here to get a train back from bournemouth... Is that right?

Getting the train from Central London, to a London suburb, then cycling to Bourney from said suburb.
