Ah Tooting you say, sort of my neck of the woods. I'd head to the Roehampton gate entrance of Richmond park via back streets of Roehampton.
Then through the middle of RP to Ham Gate, down the hill to the main crossroads, straight over and head for the footbridge across the Thames....
after that you're practically there and barely touching a single main road other than having to cross the A3 one time.
