...now i'm not one for conspiracies, but was this just an excuse to get out of doing the 24/12 this year, which took place the day after your "supposed" incident.
I mean if you're going to wriggle out of doing something like that, you're supposed to start the race and have a mechanical issue with a part that's not replaceable on site. Say, a chainring or something...
