You can get those ultrasonic pest repellers that give out a high pitched frequency that work on squirrels, also the electromagnetic ones that make rodents feel uncomfrotable when in the house.
Obviously don't try this method if you have pet rabbits/mice/gerbils etc.

Right so I think ive finally pinned down my creaking noise
It when i put my weight on the non drive side crank arm as it comes down and when resisting the non drive side crank
Ive checked and double checked theyre tight and theres no play in the cranks so theyre not loose nor has the taper expanded as far as i can tell
SO i'm pretty sure its the bottom bracket, most specifically the plastic cup perhaps on the non drive side, its tight but i'm almost sure thats where the creaking is coming from
its literally like a creaky floorboard, and if i put my weight on the non drive side crank whens its stood still its makes a mini-creak like cracking sound
but i've unscrewed and rescrewed in the bottom bracket and can't for the life of me figure out why
what type of pedals?

check the screws that hold the cage in place, these can loosen easily. If loose, take them out, grease the threads and do them back up solidly. failing that, it could be the pedal bearings. Try any other pedals you might have or borrow a kosher pair.

Could it really be the pedals? its sounds far too loud to be them but i'll give it a go

They are evil creatures, I used to get home to find them standing in a line along the roof and staring at me.
Sounds awful.....

This is almost certainly in vain, but who knows, maybe I'm underestimating the forum.
If I wanted to find out what percentage of manual or semi-skilled workers in the UK have been on a foreign holiday at any point, how would I do it?
Would it also be possible to find similar statistics from 1987?
If you can find me the answer, (and I write an acknowledgements page for my thesis), you'll be on the acknowledgements page for my thesis.

If someone can find it me in the next twenty minutes, I'll put a watermark of 'LFGSS - HTFU - WAC' on top of every page.

Can't you just put a poll on here and then extrapolate the data a little?*
*perhaps more than a little.

Not sure about current stats, but for 1987 stats I don't know whether Bill Cormack's "A History of Holidays" might be of any use?
You probably already know about this book... Can I have an acknowledgment anyway?
Otherwise, the Office for National Statistics is probably your best bet. I've emailed them and asked them nicely to look up stuff for me in the past, might be worth a try.

Small form pcs as home office pc. I like the look of them, but are they underpowered?
Yes? No?I have approx 450 quid to spend. I want:
a pc
a monitor
mouse and keyboardthe ability to work on multiple documents, using excel/word at the same time, do some internet research at the same time, listen to music (streamed or on the pc) at the same time.

Actually I didn't know about that book, I'm trying to steer well clear of 'tourism history' because it sounds more like a BTEC than an MA (snob), and I was just hoping for a quick statistic that I could compare the figures I have for East Germany with.
Sounds like a great shout, thanks for your help. I will try the Office for National Statistics too, I didn't really know much about it.
Repped.

No worries. I know what you mean about academia snobbery, I fought that all through my MA but eventually succumbed and ended up reading loads of really interesting stuff (“interesting” being entirely subjective in this case).
Also, sad as it is to admit, I wish I worked at the ONS.

why is the flavouring on the wrong side of pringles?
i assume it is so if you are using them to dip or scoop something up then the flavour is on the side that touches your tongue
however most of the time i eat pringles without an accompanying dip, so eat them with the curvature in line with the roof of my mouth, which means i have a layer of crisp between my tongue and the tasty stuff
why is it done this way?

Panaracer Pasela tyres... CRC list three versions, Black, white and Trans black. Is it the Trans Black that is the gumwall version?

Not at all! you can get a quad core laptop and a decent monitor for that. In terms of a desktop, you can really go to town with that kind of money these days.

Perhaps it is so that less of the flavouring is left behind in the aforementioned dip after 'scooping' thereby contaminating the dip for other users and lessening the dippers enjoyment.
I think the real question should be why do all Pringles just taste a bit like vomit?

the small form PCs are a different matter though.
For that money you could probably get a decent dual core processor, albeit one designed for use in net books (lower power consumption/heat output).
If you want a higher spec small PC, eg for games, HD video etc, then you would need to add a few hundred.

I did http://www.action.org.uk/winchester_100/100_mile_route on Sunday, and saw a pack of riders some of whom kept holding out their right arms at a 45 degree downward angle, while keeping the same position in the pack and not turning or moving right.
What does that signal mean ?

Not at all. Are you talking tiny or just small form pc? At a friends we've been running a small form pc for a couple of years now for games and It's been flawless (we run it with the sides off though)
Given the fact you don't need a huge graphics card you can build/buy a lot of pc for that money.
If your up for it buy the parts and do it yourself, saving a fair wad in the process.
My house had a squirrel infestation earlier this year. We had to board up every little hole in the roof of the house. I left the landlord to deal with the squirrels inside...
They are evil creatures, I used to get home to find them standing in a line along the roof and staring at me.
