I've just returned from a break riding in the New Forest where we came across an ominous white mountain bike locked to a give way sign. We stopped to pay our respects and my thoughts immediately fell back to this thread as I realised who it was.
Seeing a ghost bike in the confines of Zone 6 is always depressing but somehow a bike locked to a sign or post in the middle of the country side will always leave a lasting impression in my mind. It was almost a year to the day since passing a similar scene near Wareham where Rob Jefferies died.
The only positive that I can find is that it's a prettier final resting place than most.
Mark, I hope you enjoy riding those roads as much as we have over the last few days.
