I have a Force front mech on a 50/34 and it works fine.
The older Red front mechs had a titanium cage which was allegedly too flexible leading to poor shifting, although the newer ones changed to a steel cage to rectify that.
They do need to be very precisely setup in my experience- if they are at an angle then they will misbehave.
