Just had one of these delivered, stumbled across the website whilst looking for barbecues with a bit of an alternative feel to them. I went for the original drum smoker and opted for a manual rotisserie (there are quite a parts you can personalise, they even offered to do a custom paint job, but I wanted something basic, so stayed with charcoal black). Spoke to the guy who owns the company and he hand builds them himself which I thought was pretty neat! Anyway, lets hope the weather sorts itself out, I'll let you know how I get on with it!

  • They look great, thanks!

  • Some nice looking barbecues. I've had a green and white Castrol branded oil drum in my parents garage for about 2 years and I keep telling myself I'll turn it into a barbecue one day.

  • Booga-that sounds really sweet, do it!

  • ^ Should only use drums used for vegetable oil or something slightly less carcinogenic than petrochemicals for a BBQ.

  • it think if you just set a fire in there once without the aim of BBQ'ing it will clean out all the crap stuck to the sides of the barrel... give it a good old flare up and lots of wood big flames it'll take the paint off the outside too

    2nd time it'll be sweet

  • I hear that petrochemicals add an exquisite tang...

Don't be stupid. When you make an oil drum BBQ you season it by burning loads and loads of wood/charcoal on it which burns off any residue from what was originally in it. The same applies to any paintwork on the out side which blisters and can be scraped off. Vegetable oil comes in really thin walled aluminium cans which would last about 10 minutes before melting.

  • ooooh get her!!

Beer kegs also make great [and slightly smaller] BBQ's and smokers

  • ^ I was thinking that, but aren't beer kegs owned by the Queen? I remember that being discussed at a pub I used to work at-I guess that's why Drumbecue isn't Barbekeg, Barbebarrel etc lol

  • Beerbeque

    Yes.

She also owns all the toothpaste and words of encouragement.
