Earlier conversation with my Mum as we watched the tour:
"is that Bradley Wiggins?"
"no."
"oh. is that bradley wiggins?"
"no."
"Oh, ok. Is that bradley wiggins?"
"no. you'll know when you see him because he's in yellow."
"oh. Why isnt he at the front?" -

I would love to see Robert Millar in Paris with the ITV4 team, considering Wiggins or Froome look like they will beat his 1984, 4th place. Would he go though? probably tell them to fuck off, in classic Millar style.

I hope Froome and Wiggins are in different teams next year, would be more exiting.

If Froome goes to another team next year, he won't win the Tour.
-
• #2656
He managed to get the "fuck off" in before I banned him? Good going.
Thank you Velocio.

why did souranalgrapesarenotafruitjonny get banned?

It's pure speculation but I can't see him backing out of his lucrative deal with Sky. Is there another team good enough right now to tempt him?
Perhaps he can use his success this year to garner support for other Grand Tours (such as the Vuelta) – giving Tim a holiday or something?

Robert Millar has been blogging like a boss on the cycling news site. Funny AND informative
Loved Jens on ITV4. If he doesn't ride the Tour next year someone needs to give him a job as a pundit. Would pay to listen to him during a live stage.
Interesting to see the clinic is turning away from the rabid doping accusations since the data doesn't back it up and is now turning their militant zeal towards paying off ASO to design a parcours perfect for Wiggins. You stay classy

i came onto this thread looking for the usual running commentary on the day's events on the tour
i almost thought today had been a rest day as everyone was too busy dealing with sourgrapes to actually post about the racing
i had to go and google to find out what happened today

Yes, maybe he looks strong because of the team around him, with less organisation he probably wouldn't be second? I just miss the exitement of a well matched head to head like shleck/contador two years ago.

But we're getting the well matched internecine warfare like Lemond/Hinault 86, which is much more fun.
-
• #2666
Nah, froome's all nicey-nice. I agree internecine warfare would be more fun.

internecine warfare is why i log on to lfgss

I wonder to what extent do froome and wiggins owe their positions to each other.
-

Wiggo is a Liverpool supporter and so has an odd view of football supporters. I can also understand why he might consider going to a football match as a punishment.
oi i heard that cliveo ^
wiggo = supreme human being in my eyes ( now )

I don't get the moaning about this tour, and wanting x or y to happen. Every tour is different and has different dramas, and a different feel to it. The wiggins froome thing has been blown out of all proportion, and as long as wiggins doesn't crack in the mountains, wed/thurs I'm looking at you, then he's pretty much going to win it a'la Indurain. Read somewhere that Big Mig was wiggins hero growing up and it was nice the day he won the TT that Miguel sent him a note of congratulations...
But to my previous point, just because a tour doesn't have the type of drama you specifically won't it doesn't make it any less exciting. Maybe it's because I'm watching it everyday but this tour feels like its been pretty exciting in my mind and wiggins quest to be the first Brit to win the thing will continue to keep it so...

Big Mig was 48 yesterday.

Today's stage is going to be way more exciting than yesterday's.
-
• #2673
i expect an early break by mrs froome
chased down by mrs wiggins and the sky cohorts
only for mrs sagan to tweet herself over the line with a strong powerful finish -
• #2674
You've probably got it right, Michelle is not one to let a potential opportunity pass and she will attack whilst the others are mingling around the start line.
