Fixed and single speed off the peg bikes has been driven by consumer demand. Carbon road bikes, are probably more driven by clueless middle age cunts who latch onto marketing spiel and brand image.
What hugo is too polite to say is that you are completely wrong. A race bike is a race a bike. A 'fixie' didn't even exist ten years ago and half the cycling world are still trying to work out what they're for.

But don't let the facts get in the way of your prejudices.

In fairness he did qualify it with "probably".

i'm liking the look of the Kona Rove;
SRAM Apex drivetrain with 36/46 chainrings and 11-32 spockets
44cm Kona Road bar
Kona chromoly straight blade fork, with oversized crown, low-rider mounts, and IS disc mounts
700C 35mm Freedom Ryder tires
Hayes V-Series CX-5 mechanical disc brakes with 140mm rotors
Room in the frame for a 45mm tire without guards, or a 40mm with guards
Six sizes: 47, 49, 53, 56, 59, 61cm
US price will be $1699USD – UK price still to be decided. -

looks like the CDF no? obviously better brake position on the back but otherwise pretty similar.
uk price probably £1599 -

Really?
I've only ever ridden on a couple of carbon bikes (Madone, and TCR) and both of them felt laterally stiff yet vertically compliant.
In all seriousness though they both smash it for ride quality and stiffness compared to my Condor in Deda SAT 14.5 - ie a modern steal,
Surely if anything fixeh's suffer far more from clueless cunts. How many creates do you see on the road compared to carbon from the main brands?
Both are driven by consumer demand and tbc anything that gets more bikes on the road, in shops and in secondhand classifieds is good in my book.
It just doesn't always work like that in the real world. When you work in a bike shop you sell what you have, drop a few buzz words in and the dopey cunts with too much disposable income lap it up. Some customers know what they want, some take what you give them.

If you don't like that stem you're a bit fucked aren't you.
Nice effort though, especially with the seatpost. However, I don't care if it shifts gears by means of a tiny particle accelerator operated by the mice from Bagpuss, why the fuck does that shimano groupset have to look so unbelievably fucking ugly?

I think 2007 would have been more a reference to the forum.

Personally I take issue with the fact that you seem to have something against people with "too much disposable income". Which is a pretty odd gripe on a forum full of people riding overspec'd fetish bikes predominantly living in one of the most expensive cities in the world.
I think most outsiders would say *we *have too much disposable income if this is what we choose to spend our money on.
Also it's bollocks to some how label one set of bike users as mugs.
They come in all shapes and sizes, and almost everyone buys into certain images/sales patter - from tiny girls with retro town bikes that weigh more than they do, to people who fork out RRP for a Charge Plug because they're enchanted with the edgy lifestyle of a messenger, and want the simplicity of one gear and a steel frame.

But the Look can >>>>>>>>>>>> because it's too pricey for me to justify buying.
And it doesn't appear to come in red.
