  • Your recovery sounds great, and so good that you can walk about a bit. Really, really don't overdo it though. Definitely don't go out without your crutches, it gets tiring really quickly and being stranded far from home and in too much pain to walk home is not fun. Plus it alerts people to the need to give you a bit more space/a seat/a hand etc.

I was paranoid for quite some time about breaking my hip. That went away when I broke my elbow, and now I'm more paranoid about dong that again!!

It sounds really lame and self-help-y but a positive mental attitude is really important, so it sounds like you'll make a great recovery. You WANT to get back on the bike, so you'll make it happen. I definitely agree that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger - but hope you've had your share of accidents this year!

Dedicate yourself to recovery but also spend time just generally looking after yourself. I was really positive for the first 10 days after my operation and then it all hit me and I was seriously gloomy, so make sure you do things that will cheer you up too.
