I have been down there before... once and never again. There's an uneven gravel track that runs in an almost perfect straight line from Wimbledon Golf Course to the Robin Hood Gate entrance to Richmond Park.
Would not recommend going down there on a road bike. You're possibly going to be better off circling slightly south of Wimbledon Common, down the hill to the A3 flyover. Saying that, where are you trying to get to?
