haha! I saw a lovely little bike for sale in a pawn shop. Went home to research Kyoso and this thread came up. Along with other info it looked good so I went back & bought the bike.
Now that its at home I see from various marks etc that I have purchased this exact bike sold here, albeit with a different saddle!
I wonder how many hands its been thru since July?

Could it have been stolen? (Not suggesting you did, obviously, but does anyone sell stuff to pawn shops legitimately?)

Pawn shops tend to stay away from stolen goods, believe it or not! There systems are hooked up to the Police, so if anything has been stolen they check there first. If something is found to be stolen, the police take it away as evidence or return to original owner, obviously the Pawn shop receives no money for the item they've just paid out on.
Stolen bikes are a bit of a grey area, I purchased a bike recently which I kept for a few months, then stuck it on eBay. I have a message from a gentlemen saying it was his bike from 30 years ago and he has sufficient paperwork to prove it. I bought the bike off a little old lady, her late husband bought it off his brother, who bought it from a 2nd hand shop 25 years ago. Is a stolen bike forever a stolen bike?

Yeah, fair point. I'm sure stolen stuff does end up in pawn shops though, they can't all be reputable.
I know they're usually hot on taking ID of people for frequently stolen things (I've seen people trying to flog PS3s etc with the "oh, sorry mate, I don't have any ID on me, my address is uh..." without success) but stuff must slip through.
Just sets alarm bells ringing for a bike that was bought a few months ago to have been sold to a pawn shop for, presumably, a massive loss (depends what JRKO bought it for, I suppose).
