I disagree on the on the brakes, especially if you talk about hydraulic brakes. Hayes have almost zero modulation.
I'm not saying brakes don't feel different; I'm saying that humans can deal with/adapt to the differences.
I don't see people randomly endoing and launching themselves over their bars, nor do I see people under-braking and crashing into people. Well, I do, but I don't think it's consistently people with the same type/brand of brakes. It's the human misjudgements that cause the problems, not the modulation of their brakes. If you had unpredictable/changeable modulation, then that would be a real problem.
