There's so much nonsense talk around stems. People would have you believe that 100mm is 'long' and that it 'slows down your steering'. Back in the day, pretty much all MTB stems were 150mm, and I don't recall people struggling with them.
When you factor in the reach of the bars, road bikes put your hands about 200+mm away from the steerer tube. Do road bikes 'turn slowly'?
