But a bike is meant to be ridden, not sitting there with a load of others not even built up!
And especially for high quality steel frames that had passion and love for the sport built into them.

No, they had desire for profit built into them. Maybe some small builders do it for the love of sport, but Gazelle was a big commercial concern churning out thousands of bikes in order to make money for the shareholders.

NOOOOOO!! I refuse to let you shoot down my naive idealism! :P
Meh, I just wish nice bikes to be ridden by people who appreciate them, not being collected for some bizarre fulfillment, where no one can appreciate them the way they were intended.

You just want to have some those frames from that collector.
You give reason to the collector. -

what is the seatpost on that bob jackson on the previous page? That carbon looks kinda like wound up fork. Want.
Check the Velospace link I posted, it's an FSA SL-K.

^^ Wha?! o_0
I can give the collector a reason to give them (or one, otherwise I'd be collecting) to me, I'd ride it!
Although it would probably take quite a while to build it up, as I'd like to see it done properly with a sympathetic mix of old and new, that would not only look good but work well together.... but as thats never gonna happen, I'm just gonna shut up and go back to sitting in the corner, gently rocking, muttering under my breath. :D

It's possible that we may already have seen those. Clues include "2011" in the image URL

Nice Colnago but the reflector on the front spoke is a bit commuter style.

I agree, especially when it's glued onto the big vehicle behind it.

don't really like those Europcar Colnago's - pretty uninspiring.

A lot of museums rely on private collectors to supply them with objects for exhibits. With out them many important artefacts would be destroyed or lost.
For example in the Alan Turing exhibit right now at the Science Museum, one of the Enigma Machines was lent by Mick Jagger.
I know an Enigma Machine is not exactly the same as a bike and probably wouldn't be used for anything other than museum display, but it does highlight the importance of private collections.

^I agree, but in that case AngelD is right. hoarding multiple frames of the same kind without intentions to build them is retarded.
They'd never sell any stamps if it wasnt for collectors
