I think it is going to be grey market at best as it is the type of thing that 'always' belongs to Royal Mail and 'officially' should have been returned to them even if the OP is/was a postman :) As long as they we his (the OP), I wouldn't worry tho.
People are weird, me included! LOL. People always seem to like/want a Royal Mail bag, yet when I was a postman I wanted to get a custom messenger to look like a postbag so I didn't have to use their bag :)
