Don't know if this is the same accident, but a friend on twitter has said that there was a cyclist hit and run fatality in Thicket Road/Anerley Hill.

Bad day to be on two wheels. That incident was a Motorcyclist fatality.

This comes from the police:
Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Mitcham this morning (10 July).
Police were called at approx 0510hrs to reports of a car in collision with a cyclist in Mitcham Road, Mitcham.
Officers, LAS and London's Air Ambulance attended the scene and the cyclist, a man believed aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene at 0541hrs.
Inquiries are underway to establish the identity of the deceased and contact next of kin.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene.
Mitcham Road remains closed between Beddington Lane and Purley Way in both directions.
The incident will be investigated by the Road Death Investigation Unit based at Catford Traffic Garage. Anyone who witnessed the collision or the events leading up to the collision is asked to contact the witness appeal line on 020 8285 1574.
No arrests, inquiries continue. -

I used to ride this road a lot when I was younger and starting to get in to bike riding. It can be a very fast bit of road, with people coming off the roundabout with a lot of speed.
