The rain held off and we got a full afternoon of racing in.
Given the gloomy weather forecasts it was an event dominated by the local racers, both young and senior. Racing was fast and competitive. Symon Lewis, Tony Lock, James Solly, John Coolahan, Alan Strang and Iain Cook continued their season-long battle in the A Cats. In the B Cats promising juniors Hisham Al-Ramal and Tom Kennison were busy at the front.

bit annoyed at the devil, called out my number when it shouldn't have; same thing happened to a teammate, he was really p'd off

"bit annoyed at the devil, called out my number when it shouldn't have; same thing happened to a teammate, he was really p'd off"
There was a bit of confusion in the A devil which all stemmed from the first rider eliminated not dropping out and going on the attack this led the next two or three riders to be eliminated basing their efforts on riders who were already out and consequently being eliminated.
I finaly get a result and my surname is illegible on the start sheet - must do block capitals;
"B Cat win out:
..., Danny Clarkson?,...." -

It was a really good day, some real fast riders out there.
Thanks to Dulwich Paragon for a really good race program.

Cheers HB. I think you surprised everyone - including yourself - getting into that final. There's always a couple of races that make for entertainment.
Arben - I understand the devil is infuriating when you think the wrong result is called but I don't appreciate you criticising the race on a public forum. Yesterday was the time to have a problem with the result. We had 5-6 people on the line and 4 people calling the numbers. And if you thought the result was wrong we even had someone on the line with a recording it on camera.

On devils:
If you're called out, you are OUT. Gtf off the track.
The line judge has the best view to judge who is out, funny that.Riders may 'think' they are safe, but they don't have the correct view to judge. Even very experienced riders still get this wrong.
However, in the event that one or more riders who have been called out are staying in and affecting the result, the race needs to then be neutralised (the indication of which needs to be communicated to the riders before they start).

On devils:

The line judge has the best view to judge who is out, funny that.Yes, i understand that, and i was called out and i went off, the situation was that my number was called first, then another number was called right after it (i didn't hear the second number) and i along another rider both got off the track on the same lap, i then spoke to one of the guys near the finish line who said "sorry mate, it was an accident"
anyway, it's not a big deal and following it up isn't going to get anywhere

I'm trying not to get drawn into a debate but as one of the people calling out numbers I know for a fact no-one called out your number (1); the first number called out was 25. I'm sorry you misheard but it's not the judge's fault. The case with number 19 was close but we have to take the judge's word for it. Moreover, if anyone should have a problem it was one of the A cats but he took his exclusion on the chin even though he had quite a good case to be miffed.

Just seen the results up on the BC site, but no results (and therefore no points) for youth riders.
Are these going to get added?
