  • Had a lazy-assed weekend too. I conveniently "forgot" about Sunday training yesterday and drank wine and picked at roast chicken instead. Mmmmm.

On the goggle front: Sorry kboy but I think you're nuts for swimming without goggles. Even the slightest leak in mine drives me crazy and means irritated, swollen, bloodshot eyes for the best part of 24 hours. I know you say your eyesight isn't great without lenses anyway but still... it must be very uncomfortable without goggles.

Besides, you need to be able to see which way you're pushing off the wall, when to turn and to avoid other swimmers at least surely? Beyond that I look at my hands to see what i'm doing wrong with my catch etc. Plus I look at other swimmers under the water to see what they're doing right and wrong and try and emulate the good and avoid the bad. A big part of the pleasure is that feeling of being fully immersed in a three dimensional space and enjoying the grace and economy of movement that comes from observing and hopefully mirroring smooth and powerful movement though the water isn't it?

The thought of flailing around blindly with eyes closed or stinging and blurry does not sound like my idea of fun. To be honest, I wouldn't even get in a pool without goggles.

Mine seem to lose their anti fog after a couple of months which is annoying. I thought you could buy little bottles of spray to treat them? I must do that. As it stands I just rinse them out between sets. Still loving the Tyr Tracers and will continue to stockpile them in the event of a shortage.
