    Wiggins is excellent at maintaining a high speed at a regular 'diesel' cadence - generally speaking, he doesn't jump like Evans can. Froome has that ability, therefore he took the stage rather than conceding it to Evans.
    Wiggins' consistent pace is his strength and his weakness. He can use it to gradually grind others off his pace, a la Indurain, but if a brilliant specialist climber attacks him with sharp bursts of speed he is open to attack. That's why he kept pace when Evans shot off and allowed his lieutenant to mop up the win.

    Perfectly executed.
