  • yes. poc.

  • Thought so... back to the drawing board.

  • No no, just buy it and then replace every single bit of it. Except any air in the tyres, that might be ok.

It still won't be ok, they are piss poor. I had a frame one which flexed unbelievably and it was constantly creaking, it was just horrible although it did make for a comfy ride on rough roads due to the amount of give it had in it.

I suspect that mashton meant to imply that they'd have to replace the frame, too. :)

  • Indeed

  • I don't mean to resurrect threads but I just wanted to reaffirm the warning against buying a Create bike.

This happened to my Create bike last week, with just leg pressure:

  • I don't see the problem...

  • I hope you kept the receipt.

  • Bought it second hand unfortunately so no receipt. Bugger to replace too as its 110mm BCD.

Safe to say I'm in the market for a new bike now...

  • What size frame are you looking for? I've got a 52cm Fuji Track for sale with cranks. You can just transfer the other parts from your create and upgrade parts when necessary.

  • I saw your advert, nice frame but I'm after a slightly larger frame, around 55-57cm.

Was thinking of buying a complete bike to start off with and then maybe when I have time build one.

  • No problem. It is a bit small! Don't be put off about building one and using some of the create parts originally to get it up and running. Just remember to upgrade the cheap parts out bit by bit as you can afford to and you'll have a nice bike that won't disintegrate underneath you before you know it.

  • My bike has had quite a few upgraded components, the cranks and pedals are new but the actual chainwheel was a Create monstrosity. I have bought a new chainring and once fitted I will be looking to sell it on, probably on gumtree or something.

Operating on a budget at the moment so cannot really afford the likes of an £80 crankset they were trying to sell me at the shop.

That's unbelievable, what kind of legs do you have?

  • Standard legs I believe. I struggle up the hill at Archway with a 44T chainring so I'm not a machine.

  • that chain ring must be made of toffee then, really poor and bloody dangerous to boot.

  • Finest Edam chainrings.

  • mmmmmmmmm edam

  • too be fair that happened to the chainring that came stock on my fuji track

  • In his defense, Woolley did ask for sensible replies, as oppose to abuse!
It's all very well advising he buy a S/H bike but if not immediately, how long before he's forced to buy a new chain, cassette and probably crank, costing him an additional £100.
I'm sure he's sorted himself out by now but helpful advice would've been nice. Unfortunately, I don't know enough to be of any help.

  • ...I'm sure he's sorted himself out by now...

Well it has been two years since the OP, so probably yeah.

On the basis of this, your one and only post since joining two years ago, I would have to agree.

On the basis of this, your one and only post since joining three years ago, i would have to agree.

    hahahahaha!

Just offering an opinion, as oppose to criticizing, for the sake of criticizing.
I'm sure you've posted hundreds of times and each and every one was as helpful as this one! Enjoy the rest of your busy weekend. Take care
