• The only non-NJS components I'm looking at are saddle (possibly - I think the NJS saddles are generally too narrow for my arse), pedals (clipless rules) and bars. NJS wheels can come, although maybe only in some years when I can afford to build them up!

Out of those I have clipless pedals that shouldn't look too out of place and likewise a saddle if I go with something like a Concor Supercorsa.

So it comes down to bars. Right now I'm heading towards just getting another set of 001 bulls like I had before with some classy bartape and leaving it at that.

  • sounds like your pondering is done! look forward to the pics.

  • I had a little crash. This bike is cursed.

The frame is unscathed. My face not so much.

    prescient avatar.

  • Less so if you knew the true horrifying context.

HINT: Japanese porn is really weird.

  • Just decided to grab another set of RB-001s.

New bars on bottom, old bars on top. Ouch!

  • Oh yes!

  • what seat post you using?

  • 'Viva' or something - just a placeholder because this frame is 27.0mm and my old post was 27.2mm. Waiting for some money to clear and I'll be buying a Nitto SP72 in the next few days hopefully.

Then next month, hopefully a matching front wheel and possibly a Kashimax Aero saddle if I can try one and don't hate it.

  • kalloy.

  • ooh cmon that bike deserves some better pictures!

  • ^ +1 take it out on a ride somewhere pweddy and take some snaps. And then throw your aerospoke under a bus...
I kid looks rad nice work

  • Yeah I'm stuck with terrible, terrible iPhone photos at the moment due to spending my money on healthcare bills and bike parts rather than getting an Internet connection set up. When I get the new seatpost I'll take some good photos and upload them from my office (sneaky).

  • get some of your mates make a couple :)

No homo? Actually I have a friend here who has a lovely sparkly red Samson with a Spinergy suicide wheel on the front so I'll try to hang out with him soon and take some of the HHSB twins.

Until then, here's something a little better.

  • Latest additions...

Thanks once again to Rene at Giracha/Track Supermarket. I won't go into specifics but his service is superb and he really looks after his customers.

  • Three bloody posts in a row - apologies!

I have some better pics now (though they look much darker on my phone than on my Mac...). Also arranged to go on a ride with my buddy in a couple of weeks, with his Samson. Should be fun.

That's it until next month now, which will bring that new front wheel and possibly an NJS saddle if I find one that won't destroy my gooch.

  • haha looks like a weird little alien.

    sweet bike though, jealous.

A frog or an ostrich, according to the Fishy Looking Bikes thread (genius).

  • Got a good deal on a padded Kashimax Aero today so decided to go for it and live on cup noodles for a week.

I'd have loved a suede one but my bike gets ridden and parked in the rain (and boy does it rain here) so it would have gotten trashed. Shame.

Got a decent ride coming up on Sunday so we'll see if it's comfortable. Holding onto the Concor Light just in case!

  • Don't attach the bottle cage. looks so much nicer without :)

    go thirsty/dehydrated.

  • I'm thinking I might get some track drops and run it without the cage for shorter rides (can lose the cage in the winter, too). Then for longer rides, go to bulls and attach the cage.

Alas, summertime here basically requires chugging down electrolyte drinks and my jersey pockets are full with puncture kit, gels and cash/phone/ID.

  • Yeah i have the same issue in Mallorca, riding 80km in 30degrees!

well get a diff cage. is that a tacx one? i had the same and it broke the other day. so pleased, it looks god awful when no bottle inside.

sorry i sound like a bit of a cunt telling you what to do! apologies!

  • Yeah, it's the Tacx Tao. It looks a bit 'meh' but it works. Previously had a cage dump my bottle onto the road but no such issues with the Tao so I'm loathe to change the thing!

Dear thunderstorms: this makes three of you today. Ordinarily you'd be quite exciting (abd you are undeniably impressive) but I want to set up my saddle. Please bugger off.

  • Wish the SP72 wasn't so expensive, so much want

  • This is so much better than your leader, I feel for your ban account though!
