Congrats hippy, good read and prodigious gel consumption too.

I think I need to ride a fast 100 to better my BAR. That is an appalling time given I rode a 4:32 last season and had plenty left in the tank

Awesome. Especially the peeing bit.

The guy that passed me at the bottom of the hill was out of the saddle up the next one. Not sure what his rush was... ;)

Anyone out tonight? Had a meeting cancelled so may be able to make the Bexley 10, though not really in the mood.

Was hoping to make it tonight but my cough isnt going so will have to wait until next week.

Ah, I was just about to set off- no one else going?

Good to see Sam+brother out tonight.
I'm still glacially slow, but 33 seconds faster than last week.
I caught the chap who went up the road before me, which felt good, but was passed by the two chaps who went after me, which felt less good.

as they flashed past did they stare in disbelief at the sit-up-and-beg?

I couldn't really tell, they were severely red-shifted

It's not uncommon for me to be overtaken by the two guys in fron and to catch the person in front. They seem to pick the numbers out of a hat instead of the time they've done in the past. I've had guys that I know are 4min faster than me in front before.

I think I got the pacing better this time, average HR was 168, steadily rose over the 10 to hit 185 over the line.
Dull graph:

One thing I'm wondering about- both weeks now as I hit 40mph down the hill my front wheel starts tugging left and right. Slightly disconcerting.
Is this an "undocumented feature" of my front wheel, or do all deep section rims get a bit wayward at this speed?
Thinking about it the same thing happened at the same speed a couple of times when I cycled to Brighton a couple of weekends ago.

I think it's just catching the wind as usual but as you are on a downhill, more weight over the front you notice it more than if you were on the flat.

There should be no movement left and ride unless there's a sidewind. Your wheel is scared.

24.51 on 92" for me, my bro came in at 24.17. He cheated tho with gears and a pointy hat.

Maybe it's possessed?
It feels like a wheel that's unbalanced (car wheel).
Does anyone ever balance bike wheels?

Maybe get your weight back a bit.

Flags wave in uniform flow fields.
Vortex shedding is chaotic, and often results in oscillation.

23:53 tonight, lost about 15s due to long queue of cars at Burchetts Green rab on the way back, plus a couple more seconds mincing round the roundabouts due to persistent drizzle.
I'm just writing up the WCA 100. I was caught by a few people within the first 25 and I'm pretty sure I stormed passed all of them with 10mi to go.
