I'm not sure I understand what's wrong, I don't see why zip ties wouldn't work though. They held mine on at the stays when I bust the pclips just fine. Don't see why it wouldn't work for the brake bridge.
Are you running a rear brake? I'm not, so I just used a thinner bolt and some washers to hold the guard in place there.
