Alley Cat

Hey all!

First off, I'm knew to the Lfgss forum but I've been riding a fixed gear bike in Cambridge for around 2 years now.

A couple of friends and I have decided to organize an alley cat race. There are about 10 checkpoints in and around Cambridge in a 12-15 mile circuit depending on your routes.

So here at the details:
There is no entrance fee
Anyone/any bike (but preferably fixed/single speed) can compete
Start/Finish at Bike Ambulance
Arrive at 7pm for a 7:30 start on Wednesday 11th July
Bring a bag of some sort and a lock

I was just thinking about how good it would be to have another alleycat in Cambridge , well done for stepping up to do this.
Eddie's " lostcat" and Josh's "phoneboxcat" a few years ago were brilliant.

I reckon Bike Ambulance will be shut at those times maybe Vinnie won't mind having the start /finish in Maypole next door( he could provide a prize?!?!?!)
I'm up for this despite being hopeless at Alleycats and will probably cheat again.

I'm afraid there's no real theme; it's just a series of checkpoints however some will be manned and will require you to complete a small challenge.

Well, I was planning on starting it in the Bike Ambulance/Park Street Cycle Park/Maypole area. A prize from the Maypole would be great - I'll ask about it.

Well at the moment it'll be a Le Mans start but we're trying to think of something more inventive/exciting.

Well, we've got one prize already, which you can see on the Facebook page, which is a black and white Altura cycling jersey.

BOO! I'm away the first two weeks of July, let's make this the first of many, it's technically summer, after all...

I can donate a prize , Rick at bike ambulance might too if you ask nicely.

Crack Fox, that would be brilliant! I've spoken to Rick about prizes and hopefully he'll be donating something.

Don't worry about navigation, there's always the DFL prize.

Yeah it's still happening - only 6 days away now!

We've got some nice prizes ready (cycling jersey, some Park Tools, some beer and maybe a few other things)

Thank you to all of those who turned up! (All 7 of you!) I hope everyone had a good time and enjoyed the cycle with special mentions to Arthur, Eddie and Toby who came in the top 3 respectively... and Wardy who got the DFL prize. Prizes were: a pair of Halo rims, an Altura jersey, some Parktools and a crate of beer. Photos of the event will be up soon hopefully.

I hope to see some more people at our next Alley Cat at the end of the summer; bigger and better than this one!

Also feedback and ideas for future events would be greatly appreciated.

This still looking like September 5th? After thinking I was going to be away for work AGAIN, it looks like I'll be here this time, so looking forward to getting stuck in.
