  • Hello.

Been lurking for a bit, not that long. Building my first bike at the moment. Pics soon.

  • Hi all. Recently joined the forum and thought I'd introduce myself.

I've exclusively ridden bmx for about 10 years, but have gained a big interest in fixed gear and single speed bikes the last 6 months or so. I've finally decided to give it a go and recently bought my first single speed/fixed gear (SE Lager) and love it!

I'm hoping to use the forum as a great way to gain insight and knowledge about SS/FG and hope to make some new friends along the way.

    James

  • gain insight and knowledge - ask ed...

  • jokes!!!

    Hi James!

  • I was at camden road skate park today attempting to ride a skateboard (which I have never done before) and I felt like the noobiest noob ever! Then I felt a sudden rush of sympathy for all you new guys on here. Welcome. We won't laugh at you, and if we do it's in a friendly way.

  • HAHAHAHAHA Look at SCOOT!!!

    HAHAHAHA

  • gain insight and knowledge - ask ed...

You'll also need someone to understand Ed's wording also though(t)

  • Thanks for the heads up guys, I'll keep that in mind :)

  • Hi all, recently joined but have been reading the forum for a while.

Have been riding road bikes for about 10 years and a single speed for the commute over the last 14 months. Will be moving up to London next week so thought I'd join in.

    Alex.

  • Hi All.

Just thought I'd introduce myself. Have lurked the forums for a long while but finally got around to getting an account.

I'm an avid cyclist living down down in the deepest darkest southeast. Garden of England stylee.

Looking forward to reading lots and never ever posting.

  • Hi all,
Thought I would introduce myself. Registered today, ride a nice old Raleigh single speed but now have a serious road bike too.
Am tackling the Dunwich Dynamo on Saturday and have taken to forum for advice, tips and a coach ticket.

  • There's a DD thread somewhere here :D

  • Hi,

Bit of a lurker so thought i'd sign up..if you see a garish turquoise bike pootling (mostly around Brixton) say hello - i'm only sometimes as miserable as I look!

  • Hi I'm Lejeune, my bike is a fixed lejeune from the 70's. 531 tubing which I got from ebay for a bargain!

  • I'm also into all mountain riding. My other ride is an intense for those of you who know anything about mtb

  • Hi everyone, new member here. Half italian Half belgian (which should make for perfect cycling genes, but sadly...) living in Belgium. Name is thomas. Big cycling fan.

Currently working on a Clemenso cyclocross frame project, turning it into a single speed cyclocross bike (Clemenso was a small Belgian company from the town of Diest, mostly building columbus frames for both road and cyclocross. Roland Libothon used to ride with Clemenso, for you cyclocross fans out there). I hope to read and learn here, stare at bike porn and maybe buy/sell some interesting bikes and parts.

    Cheers!
    Thomas

Dont know what was going on there last night some sort of skate tournemant i think.. Lots of shouting clapping jeering and rolling skateboards into the early hours,

My house backs onto it and i keep meaning to give it a go but its always fairly busy and i cant be arsed being laughed at :(

  • Thought I had better introduce myself. I do not ride a Fixie but have got dragged into this by my Dear Son who wants to build his own bike. Currently he rides Road, races with some modest points as a U16 and also CX (both need UCI compliant bikes). Once dragged in I can only watch for so long and then end up doing so if you see a portly elderly bloke flying through the air with arms akimbo, having forgotten you cannot just stop pedalling and rest, you may have located me.

  • Hi Guys,
New to this site and to be honest am a relative novice when it comes to bikes. Have enjoyed looking through the forums and there are some truly beautiful bikes about.

I'm looking for a bike of my own, as a 6ft 4in male should I be looking for a large frame between 23"-24"?

If anyone has something for sale on a budget of up to £250 I'd be keen to hear from you!

  • Hello. Michael from Canada. Employee from MEC told me to check you all out. New to the cycling and really starting to become addicted. Will be lurking around and asking pertinent questions like "can you mix and match shifting components?" and answering questions similar to "are you an idiot?" when asked.

  • Hey all, just joined as I'm looking to get a fixie for commuting to work come September, and also to keep fit with!

There seems to be a wealth of knowledge here, which is handy as I know very little about bikes!

  • I'll be honest - I'm here for the classifieds and need to spam 3 time before I can try and negotiate.

May as well tell an anecdote; my mate built his own fixie. I'd never ridden one before. I hopped on with my my Keo cleats, only to see his were SPD's. I set off, and soon gained confidence in pedalling. Then I tried to freewheel stupidly. Feet flew off the pedals. I couldn't get them back on, the front brake really was shit and not working. It felt like I was constantly accelerating, and I was panicking. With my lives destiny in the hands of this pile of turd he had built, I did what every man would do as he saw his life flash before his eyes - I bailed out into his parents garden and ended up in foliage. The cast from Last of the Summer wine would have been proud at the execution. Cue lots of ongoing jokes about me diving into his mums bush etc.

Right, now to find 2 more threads to post in before I can go after this Cannondale!

  • Good morning, I am FrenchCustard. I ride fixed about town and mountain bikes out of town.

I have to give it to Furrag, that is one cool story bro!

  • Or FurRug (LOL!!) you can try just post in that thread if its open.

  • Hi all
Living in rural Yorkshire. Three bikes on the go. A Pompino I cold set to fit an 11 speed Alfine to. An old corbetta (fake Columbus) but nice geometry I've converted to fixed with the pomp rear wheel, which at the moment I use for polo and a London classic the brompton. Lots of useful stuff on the pages of the site. Keep it up
    Dave
