Think you might have towed us for quite a while - in which case you were putting out some excellent (spinning) pace!

Maybe, if it was early in the ride... I really hammered it at first, regretted it later. Until the whisky at half time, that got my spirits up again.

Team Turbo Tandem have successfully returned! 250+ twin miles in 48 hours with no mechanicals and so many tales to tell, a proper write up will follow as I can't currently do it justice. My fifth, and best, DD, I think.
(We caught, then lead, the Dulwich Paragon fast train on the way out. Until they dropped us on a hill just before the end. They didn't seem to find as as fun as many of the others we rode with along the way. We saw many dead things, I almost smashed a pro cyclist's bicycle, we got some camping in and sang merry songs in French. And... and...)

Great effort Tom, really enjoyed riding with you + Rosie out of London until I lost my bottle and had to stop, then lost you guys. Tandem seemed so much fun!

Tandem whaffle...
Good to see you at Dunwich, heard a few tales from various folk who tried to cling onto the wheel of the Millennium Tandem for a bit, disappointed I didn't see you on the road, must have been cos [strike]I was in the pub[/strike] it was dark.

There were only about 15 people at the beach when we got there due to misjudging the speed of the beast, so if you left before nine there's a fair chance you would have seen the thing pass. Unless of course you were
in the pubin the dark :P -

My second DD this time and after doing it fixed last time i made the decision to do it S/S this time round. I must say I enjoyed it a lot more, party due to the fact that I am a shit ton fitter on a bike than I was last year and also because I wanted it to be really social and just have those moments when you drift off and coast down the hills watching the scenery roll by or singing Bohemian Rhapsody with Iain :-)
I can unfortunately see the novelty of DD wearing off as i do tend to get bored after ~80miles and just want it to end. To this effect I am considering the Batmobile and TTing it next year. Should get me there a bit quicker.
most enjoyable moments are probably too much to list/remember but rolled the entire way with Chainbreaker, Hovis, MutleyBJJ, Missus OSR & her mate (Jane, not ON HERE) with the odd section with the likes of Nurse Holiday, Roboto, Apollox & various others - you know who you are.
Walkie Talkies were fucking funny and helped to keep the mini SE peleton together. Next year tunes are also required.

You should have seen the looks we got when Chainbreaker was yelling about vag cream into the walkie talkies....

Haha, oh dear. I was an unfortunate victim here of being a walkie talkie bearer too. Some poor lady had a look of horror when mumblings of vag cream came through. I tried frantically to turn it off but did not know how, so I ran away instead.

You can have one next year as i might be able to keep up on the Batbike. Can have one strapped to each aerobar on different channels for chatting to driver or stoker of the tandem independently.

Half of Team Turbo Tandem almost didn't successfully return as apparently 250 miles on the back of a tandem is not good for your steering memory and I nearly crashed about 6 times between Nunhead and Catford.
That was ace though. My god I need a shower.

what an amazing night and a huge thank you to all that helped organise it and those i chatted to on the route. it was my first DD and I am massively looking forward to next year with the knowledge i garnered this year.
I will definitely fit a brake, my legs were killing at the time from the down hill sections but i'm all good today. I will definitely try and fit my spare clothes / food onto my bike rather than having a back pack. other than that the weather/ company/ route and organisation were fantastic and i will remember it forever.

I nearly died when I first saw it, then realised it was a piss take. You are a bad person.
Those 6 dudes on bromptons were flying! Hilarious. -

Well done to you too Jake. Looks like all that training paid off as you were looking very strong when I last saw you. You and Matt must have put the hammer down over the last few miles!
Thanks Rob! I felt so bad, rushing off, especially knowing Dan wasn't doing so great. But I got to a point where I was like 'unless I go for it, I am going to flounce.' Being my first ride of any substantial length, seeing the 24KM sign really fucked me over so I just had to keep going, I couldn't (wouldn't) stop. It is purely coincidence that Matt was still behind me, because I didn't even realise. I just heard the familiar whooshing of his wheels and was like 'shit, I am not alone!' which brought a big smile to my face.
What time did you get back to Hackney?
Mega lol. That made me happy.
