Goggles ftw.
I can't see a thing without goggles and my eye sight is fine. Plus it irritates my eyes.

I wear glasses normally, even if you have really bad sight, the difference in crashing into someone/thing blindly and crashing when you've seen a blurry shape come out of the murk makes it worth it.

Not sure if I have asked this before;
How often do you buy goggles, im wondering if i am doing something wrong as i seem to need a new pair every 3-4 months, mainly because the anti fog gives up and i hate not being able to see clearly.

Goggle cleaner?
-
• #1188
once the coating is gone, theyre rubbish though... they should re-coat them for a small cost. It's not very enviromentally friendly keep buying goggles.

still using the goggles I was wearing in 2008 typically only replace when strap perishes & breaks.

Hi swimmers, I was wondering, could anyone recommend a pool in North/West London that is nice, cheap and not too crowded? I was swimming at ULU before but it is so unbelievably busy all the time that it's a real chore. Bonus points for being close to Maida Vale.

Brockwell today to test out the new wettie, but it was too warm so went without (had it 3 weeks and it's still in the plastic wrapping!) 2hr gentle plod - first time I've done a couple of hours in ages - pins and needles in the arms for the last 40 mins or so.
Did feel a little bit of cold in the second hour, but nothing bothersome - probably due to a 5hr run yesterday and being drenched to the skin on the cycle there. Ate a bit of banana and HTFUed.
Why does getting wet feel glorious but putting on wet clothes feel like the worst thing in the world?

Had a lazy-assed weekend too. I conveniently "forgot" about Sunday training yesterday and drank wine and picked at roast chicken instead. Mmmmm.
On the goggle front: Sorry kboy but I think you're nuts for swimming without goggles. Even the slightest leak in mine drives me crazy and means irritated, swollen, bloodshot eyes for the best part of 24 hours. I know you say your eyesight isn't great without lenses anyway but still... it must be very uncomfortable without goggles.
Besides, you need to be able to see which way you're pushing off the wall, when to turn and to avoid other swimmers at least surely? Beyond that I look at my hands to see what i'm doing wrong with my catch etc. Plus I look at other swimmers under the water to see what they're doing right and wrong and try and emulate the good and avoid the bad. A big part of the pleasure is that feeling of being fully immersed in a three dimensional space and enjoying the grace and economy of movement that comes from observing and hopefully mirroring smooth and powerful movement though the water isn't it?
The thought of flailing around blindly with eyes closed or stinging and blurry does not sound like my idea of fun. To be honest, I wouldn't even get in a pool without goggles.
Mine seem to lose their anti fog after a couple of months which is annoying. I thought you could buy little bottles of spray to treat them? I must do that. As it stands I just rinse them out between sets. Still loving the Tyr Tracers and will continue to stockpile them in the event of a shortage.

Agreed, I hate swimming without goggles and the only time I do is at water polo 'cus they is banned :( you get caught up in the game and don't really notice though.
I never seem to notice too much fogging, my goggles often become badly scratched from being chucked in my kit bag before the lose their anti-fog.

So basically, I'm just a bit of a Goggles prima donna...... I can live with that. :)
For teaching and obviously lifeguarding courses you obviously dont use goggles.
I got conjunctivitis after about 2 days of pool swimming without goggles. It's fine for a few dives but not for swimming. Chlorine = irritant.
Not looking forward to the NRASTC.

I change mine every couple of months, or whenever the seals / nose / anti-fog goes.
I'm still to find goggles that I like though.
I wonder if they can be recyled ????

Noice.
Wonder when Ironmonger's going to finally re-open was supposed to be in April wasn't it?
No goggles?! And also briefs or jammers are much nicer than shorts.
