The route sheet said 116 miles

And I averaged about 3m/h, nothing wrong with his speed.

• #1506
Mine was 16.8mph average, it's probably was 116 miles as I never have one.

This is correct. The distance to the coast actually gets a little shorter every year.
One day it will be as short as the Dalston Dynamo. Fact.

True, subsidence at The Pub on the Park means year on year it is sliding ever so slightly north east.

Fuck that, there's no way we can cram our bicycles in the double decker if the driver said no.

Did anyone else notice a cat that was sitting in the middle of the road (on a hill, somewhere between miles 70 and 80, perhaps?), and jumping at bikes?

Congratulations everyone. I'm having to content myself by living vicariously through all your stories and anecdotes. Sounds like an excellent year!

When we got to the pub at 10:15, they told us that they had stopped doing breakfast at 10, so we had to head back down to the beach for ours. Which was ace.
I had a great time, but couldn't even summon the energy to look at my bike this morning.
Thanks to everyone that put out candles and blinky signs, and manned food stops and everything else in between.
Planning on being back again next year, maybe even having a bike with gears for it.

Its been said a hundred times but massive thanks to Alex and everyone from SC for organising. You guys were fantastic.
And to whoever the family were who opened up their garden for breakfast at about 30 miles to go you guys were a godsend.
And finally thanks to Frank, the cowboy hatted driver of the 12pm coach D. He knew how to work the chapnav

Sad to hear today that a bottle of Whiskey was allegedly stolen from the house of one of the pit-stop hosts :(
Jesus wept. Was this the 'main' second stop at about 90miles? Can I buy them a replacement please? They deserve a fucking medal not this shit...
hopes it wasn't a 50 year old single malt!

Gift from LFGSS? I'd stick a couple of quid in - their cup of tea was exactly what I needed.

Cheers for pointing me to the coach chap on the beach, Ed. I was with one guy who had to get back to London and another who had to get back to Norwich. Getting the London mate a coach ticket meant me and the other Norwich guy could get a lift home in his girlfriend's car rather than ride another 35 miles - was quite important!

Was it the magic tea stop who do a cup of tea for a donation? If so count me into the whip-round. They are one of the most welcome sights at a point where things are getting tough and they are such nice people.

Didn't even stop there but will also donate as that's appalling news, definitely intend to stop there next year though as there has been so many good things said about this house/stop/family/godsends!
karma will catch up on the whiskey stealer/s.

Didn't realised it was you! your camp-sounding "thank" threw me off.

Hey what was the story with the guy taking photos with the blinding flash in the middle of the night? Are those photos going to get posted, or will we have to buy them, a la marathon photos?
186km is 115m, which is about right isn't it? What route did you take Ed?
