4 bikes per train on virgin, you do have to book bike space at the station.and they won't let you through without one. I'm on the train right now and made everyonmove their nodder machines so I could put my bike on top...pedals in spokes, etc. Go as early as you can and anyone who can, use a bike bag and stick it in the luggage section instead!
You can always get on London midland failing that (takes longer).
