anyone know what the deal is with trains and bikes. Apparently there are only 4 bike spaces per train and I havent booked, nor have any of the others. Are we gonna be able to just put them on? Or are they real dicks about it. Adam is doing a bike bag, is that necessary? Brummies, what's your experience of this?

4 bikes per train on virgin, you do have to book bike space at the station.and they won't let you through without one. I'm on the train right now and made everyonmove their nodder machines so I could put my bike on top...pedals in spokes, etc. Go as early as you can and anyone who can, use a bike bag and stick it in the luggage section instead!

You can always get on London midland failing that (takes longer).

Yeah, Virgin trains need a reservation which you can only get from the station. Just show them your ticket and they'll print one for you. You can't get it over the internet or by phone; it's utterly retarded.

I got on twice when it was full. They let me squeeze mine in once. The other time I took the wheels off and brought it with me in the carriage. If you end up doing that, find the carriage that has the disabled priority seats at the front, they have loads of space around them that people just fill with massive suitcases.

That's all assuming the Birmingham Pendolinos are the same as the Manchester ones.
