IMO they're ugly, heavy and of no benifit. At least over-spoked deeeeep rimz tend to be stiff and strong. And they can look good.

According to this http://www2.bsn.de/cycling/WheelAerodynamics.html the rotating drag of a decent trispoke beats an aero rim and is of equal performance to a disc, the only data for aerospokes is supplied by the manufacturer and shows them inferior to a shamal but substantially better than a helium or similar low profile spoked rim.
