Is anyone heading there friday afternoon? I am thinking about it.

We may be doing throw-ins at the tournament court on the Friday night now, it depends how quickly the boards go up. They certainly won't be ready before 7, but you can come and hang out, or play at Highgate, which is a 5-10 minute ride away.
We played on the tournament courts this morning, with our new Reynolds 725 goals, checked all the wood would work etc. It's going to rule. Fingers crossed for good weather!
I reckon the courts will favour fast teams with good, fast passing skills. They're so wide that if you're used to controlling the game in the mid-court, you're going to struggle, because people will just ride or pass round you. All of the games we played were quite low scoring, which may just be because our shots are whack, or may be because you're aware of this massive gaping court behind you and you
don't want to give the ball away, so you don't shoot so readily. -

725 goals, that's awesome.
What are the final dimensions of the courts then?
This time next week we'll have a new UK champ, exciting.

I think they are 40x27m.
First time I played there they felt really long, but this time they felt
averagely long but massively wide. (uh huh huh). We moved the goals forwards a bit so there's about 3-4 metres space behind them and they felt nice. It's hard to tell how games will flow because there are loads of gaps on the barriers, but we're boarding the whole thing for the tournament, so I'd say they should be awesome.

725 goals, that's awesome.
Reynolds didn't tell me what the steel was, but at 35mm I guessed it was downtube somethingorother. Andy Perks, who brazed them for us, said 'that's good steel they gave you' and mentioned they're 725.
He offered to split them and put couplers in for us after the tournament. Sound guy, who donated his time even though he has a baby to look after.

What's the deal with the warehouse? Is it like cambridge vibe? Is there a toilet etc etc?Just working out what to do....
-
• #311
It's a working warehouse with some spare space. There are toilets and water, and maybe some spaces to bring some cars/vans inside. There's no matresses, sofas or anything else soft so bring camping matts etc.

As Dan says, there are no mattresses or sofas but there are multiple toilets and a kitchen.

Anyone who wants some equipment brought to Birmingham, please buy want you need on www.lhbpa.org/shop.
I will only be bringing whatever is purchased by Friday.

It looks like we have 21 teams, although one of those (Birmingham team Triumva or something like that) needs a sub.
Basically - Brighton, Dinos, Le Big Mac, one of you save the day! Also, one other random player willing to pack out a mid-strength Brummie team...
-
• #319
Salman can sub I think, I'll text him & find out.
-
• #320
I can sub! But I'll need to know fairly soon so I can sort myself out for the weekend.
-
• #321
Sorry, I spoke too soon. They've already sorted someone out.
Still need one more team though.
