The little dots / holes that can be seen in the photo suggests that the cassette can be disassembled, although I have no idea what might be found in there. By the time you have bought bearings, any other parts that are damaged and reassembled / taken to a shop for reassembly, wouldn't it be cheaper to buy another one?

That is a freewheel.
Sheldon Brown's website will show you exactly how to dismantle it and service it. I've done this myself more than once.

it may be worth doing just for the experience!
the tricky bit is reassembling with a piece of cotton to hold the pawls in..... -

if it is running really rough or sticking, then quickest/simplest method to ease it off is to spray into the back where the cogs spin aroundthe freewheel section with wd40 or the like. Spin it round a fair few times. Heavily spray again (you'll probably notice loads of orangy/dark crud seeping out. Repeat process a few times. Finish off with a good slug of liquid grease.
That should free up the bearings and pawls on most units enough to make it useable.
if you want loads of hassle and frustration by all means take it apart :o)
Hi
I would like to know if it is possible to open this French Atom Cassette and service the bearings inside?
If it is possible, how can I do it and what tools would I need?
I found this tool on ebay to remove it from the wheel which I will get.

Thanks for the help in advance.
