You stand in the back garden and call for "Smudge Arthur Philip Louis" ? Could be worse, my dad had a cat called Taxi, when he stood at the back door and called him the neighbours must have thought he was senile.

Ha! :)
Yeah, sometimes I call him that. Though each of our cats has about 100 other names. Pamela is also Pamel Pampstead, Pamoclees, Pamsel in distress (the latter owing to her high anxiety). My favourite name for Smudge at the mo is Smudgerigar.
I get bored easily. ;)

Ironically in the wild these cute creatures would be dinner for these one;
And here he is as seen by a hipster
My parent's grew up somewhere where there was quite a few stray/feral dogs. When they would have puppies, foxes used to come and snatch every single one by confusing the mother with teamwork.

God, I want a pile of puppies. Stupid London flats and having to work full time.
One day... one day.

Them cats are some tough cookies.
Crossbows are serious business.

I would struggle not to lash out if I found the person who did that. Find them, report them, and get them prosecuted, although if it's kids, as it probably is, what can you do?
You should be able to ID the crossbow easily enough. If it's kids and the parents don't seem to care report them to the local paper. I dunno.
