I know you were trolling, but I really like the mixture in the German team. France's team had a similarly varied composition in 1998.
I'm not really into over-stressing the political dimension of football (and has the problem of xenophobia really got less in France as a result of that team?), as happened back in 1998, but I don't get the impression that this sort of hype is happening too much in Germany at the moment. I think generally people just think it's perfectly normal to have people from different backgrounds playing together.
It might be different if they were less successful, or played the sort of boring football they played in the past, but even I, as a non-football fan, find some games that they play entertaining now.
