I got my Tressorex stuff off of this guy on ebay
http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/stigshed/?_trksid=p4340.l2559
Lots of colours, really fast service and well packed with a nice little card inside so he gets a gold star from me.

I tried this with two rolls of foam cork tape, got round the bends OK but a complete fuck uo when it came to the hoods. Sticking with standard wrapping for now so big kudos for anyone who has pulled this off.
-
• #286
Was that because the cork tape was too thick?
-
• #287
That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
Basically it looked a mess because of the thickness, and I just could not work out the hoods.
-
• #288
My though process for the hoods was to break the weave. Do one strip of tape normally, then do the other over the top as you would if you were taping normaly. You should only see the top colour. The tricky bit was restarting the weave after the hoods.

I'm looking for a really absorbant plain black tape.
Its for a Cinelli bar & headset, so I was looking at the Gel Cork but I don't like the cork bits.
Any recommendations for a simple black non-patterned tape?

Fizik.
Hang on....

This stuff.
Soft, suede like to the touch. No corky bits and not too much shite left behind when you inevitably have a fiddle or change bars as I seem to do every two minutes

fizik softtouch feels damn nice. Although it is quite thin so some people complain it's quite hard on hands as it doesnt absorb that much, gel pads would help if that is an issue
-
• #294
man Fizik soft touch and Cinelli gel pads is the way forward. I have it on all bars I've used for the last year

Specialized Roubaix FTW
Soft touch, comfortable, all black. You can see the texture more easily on the white one -

Where's this from?

some blog, can't remember. maybe the image url will help

+1 for Specialized Roubaix .. really good tape and it does leave any mess on the bars

Many thanks everyone! I particularly like the look of the Specialized Roubaix.
Turns out I forgot to remove the Cinelli from my basket when I ordered some other stuff from ChainReaction, but as I'll probably make a mess of it first time round I might try to use it rather than send it back. The cork bits will match the spots of rust on the frame. It depends how it actually looks and feels in the end, but the Roubaix will be my next wrap.
A quest to middle earth?
