seat post bolt size on a merckx steel frame

Posted on
  • can any one tell me the size of bolt required for a merckx steel frame please ?

  • Seem to remember mine is 27.2

  • We talking seatpost diameter, or seat clamp bolt?

27.2 usually for SL or SLX.

Bolt-wise, I'd just grab a Campag one, unless I'm missing something.

  • +1 (or a miche one, they tend to sheer off less)

  • the bolt that go's through the frame to clamp the seat post ,

realy , so your so sensitive that you cant take anything that dont agree with everything you say ,
i take it that your the forum policeman and that you have the power to veto anyone you choose to that you think is not entirely in line with what you think should be posted ,
it was a polite enquiry thats all , maybe because you dont know the answer you thought you would post something that makes you feel real important and top dog on the forum , bit like the bully in the playground , you know the one , full of attitude and thinks he can beat everyone except usually they cant , in fact they never can , mostly they are so full of hot air you find they ride like pussys and post stuff that makes them feel good , in my experiance people who shout loud are pretty much making up for the fact they would like to be top dog but find they never will be , only by hiding on forums an being cyber bullys , fine by me , if posting that makes you feel good then have a free one on me , just dont forget to wipe up after

  • 'out of interest , never haveing rode a fixed gear what happens when you get to a hill ?'

'i was thinking like upwards , whats the point in a bike with out gears ?
    seems daft to me ,'

'for me to buy stuff or post interestin stuff , i spent 2 hours reading posts an come to the conclusion that a lot of you do more postin than ridin'

'ok , i can see your all a bit possesive about your forum , i'l leave you to it now ,
mean while if you have a nice frame i'm after one , bit of cash should cheer you up ,'

'try 15 seconds , thats about the time that lock takes to get off , i know because i'm a locksmith ,
you guys realy need to stop believing the advertising ,'

My point was, go to a forum where you didn't start beef in the first place. You have not contributed anything positive to the forum, just negativity. So I think you've got a bit of cheek asking for help to be honest. But I will leave it at that.

  • your the post police are you ?
as i stated , which you conveniantly left out to suit your own inflated ego , the requirement was to make 3 posts in order to purchase , thats harder than it seems , as mostly posts are made up of throw away comments by people who know each other on line , having seen something i wanted it was and needed to be done quickly ,
as on most forums they are comprised of a hardcore few who like you think that its their just for them to indulge their preferances and conduct meaningless chat , and then those that go on less frequently to buy or get technical information ,
now you are one of those that has appointed themselves as the forum police and now you think that its up to you alone to say who can post or not post who should answer me or not ,
it may well be your forum , i have no idea , nor am i interested , as stated i was quite happy to leave you to your chatter and for the most part meaningless posts , but no , thats not good enough for Mr cyber police man bully , you have to now tell every one else what they can or cannot reply to ,
as for the post on locks i can assure you that 15 seconds for a competant locksmith or some one with that knowledge to remove said chains and locks is a breeze my friend , so dont believe everything the manufactures of such security devices tell you ,
is that a negative post ?
very helpfull i would have said , but no , your so full of your own shit and self importance to evan consider that some one might know something you dont ,
as for help , ok , so you dont want to , just dont post a reply , what the hell it has to do with you if others reply i have no idea ,

  • how ever , just so as you can sleep safely holding your tiny widget , i wont post any more questions , that should make you feel bigger than you actualy are ,

  • Firstly measure the hole the bolt goes into. Campagnolo made two bolts as far as I am aware #830 seat bolt (10mm) and #1073 seat bolt (8mm). When you go to fit the bolt trial fit it first to see whether the two halves will bottom out before clamping. If it appears this is going to happen, shorten the 'nut' part by removing some material where the two pieces meet. Not doing this is one of the main causes for these bolts failing ..

  • Campag Seat Bolt - £9.95 BIN - London

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Campagnolo-Record-seat-post-bolt-/230809475085?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item35bd51180d

Buy this from GermanEddie of the forum as it's a great price.

You can get other brands cheaper but why bother.

8mm diameter - 18/19mm width works for steel Merckx frames.

i went back over your posts to see if you post anything interesting or that contributes in any measure to the forum members that want to ask any technical questions , to be honest i got bored after about 2 weeks of looking at what you post , most of it consists of a few words or a couple of lines of meaningless rubbish , this was one of the more interesting ones ,

Shit son! Nice piece tb55. That is fucking sweeeeeeeeeeeet

maybe you should try contributing something positive yourself before you tell others that they cant post answers ,
