I did the Hook of Holland (ferry from Harwich) to Amsterdam taking the coastal route north on singlespeed - easy.
The customs lady at Harwich gave me directions to the ferry -" you go over the raised road just there - its the only hill you'll come across for the next few days" :)
The centre of Amsterdam was er ... messy.
