I reported an incident where a van hit me from behind at a red light, swore and yelled at me and drove off, refusing to give his details. I have a picture of the van, the reg and a description of the driver. I filled in the police form - very, very short as it was just the hit-and-run section. Can I expect any contact from police, or will this just be filed under C for can't-be-arsed?
Something similar happened to me a couple of years back, except my driver was not as angry as yours and no damage to my bike, but still there were contact. When did you report it? I received a few weeks after reporting mine informing me there were investigating it, and there was a named officer I could get in touch if I wanted to. About 6 months later (from the date of the incident), I got another letter from the police informing me the driver has been prosecuted for failed to leave driver's details and he was fined £450 and 6 points off his license. I was also given the driver's personal details shall I want to sue him for damage through the civil route. So I would say you will hear something from them soon and if not, it'd be worth chasing it up.
