  • I love my job.

Today I taught two brothers aged 5 and 7 to cycle. The parents had warned me that they did not think the eldest boy would be able to ride. His younger sibling is much more extrovert and chatty, and always had a smart answer for any question during his 1.5 hour session. Actually his confidence did not equate to his ability though he did manage to get riding but still needed a little support.

The elder brother was lacking in confidence but really paid attention and after just over an hour was off riding on his own for the first time. He circled back to me with an electric, gappy grin, that burst into a huge smile, gave me a high five and proclaimed "that was amazing". He then proceeded to race around for the next 45 minutes, determined to go faster than me, he won.

I received a grateful text from their parents this evening, the elder of the two boys was still beaming. I used to believe job satisfaction was a myth, these days I get it every day.

    Life is good.
