Will a 23mm tyre fit this rim?

  • Like the title says really. Will I be ok if I fit a 23mm tyre on this rim or would the rim be too wide?

IIRC the alloy Zipp 101 has a 24mm wide rim, which would suggest it's perfectly possible... Right?

  • im gonna say yes

  • but dont lean under any circumstatce.

  • of course it will be ok
if you look at zipp website you'll see that recommended tire width for 101's is 21-35mm

  • Ok thanks guys

    :)

  • I've been doing the opposite running a 32mm on a 13mm rim, being fine in the corners at speed

  • I think its a bad idea, inner width would need to be 17mm or less

  • im gonna say yes

    This.

It's all about the wide rims + narrow tyres combo.

  • "My mind's telling me nooo.."

  • Because its 24.5mm-wide toroidal shape is narrower
at the brake track than in the middle of the rim, the 101 can be used
safely with 21mm and 23mm race tires – unlike non-toroidal rims
    of similar widths.

That's what zipp says about them...
