They are basically a tinfoil hat for your computer. You see "they who we are not allowed to speak of" can use power cables and decent quality USB cables as antenna to look at the contents of your computer. Simply putting that little plastic lump on there you can stop them from doing this and therefore stop them from gaining the information needed to carry out their evil plans.
