I've lost count of how many times recently I've nearly been taken out by people salmoning their way to the front at lights. Fucking idiots.
A lot of the lights here have a box in front of the stop line but before the pedestrian crossing which is marked as being for bikes and low-powered motorcycles only. If I can filter up then I'll usually use it. Today I got into the box, maintaining my position on the left side (albeit not in the gutter) - front wheel more or less on the front line of the bike box. This stupid bitch on a town bike tries to squeeze past me on the left, clipping me in the process, then comes to a stop ahead of me... right in the middle of the pedestrian crossing. Well done, you got to the front.
She then proceeded to turn around and berate me in Japanese, presumably for being in the way and not letting her through. I called her a cunt and flipped her the bird. Job done.
Of course when the lights turned green, she pulled away at about 5mph and proceeded to hold up a whole lane of traffic. Brilliant.
On a different note, I jumped a changing red the other day and made a dodgy move in front of a bus coming the other way which was trying to turn right across the road. Calling myself out because that shit was dumb and I should have paid more attention.
