On the Brompton hire... when I asked if they could clarify their insurance does cover travelling abroad, the answer is no.
So now I don't have a Brompton for travel.
Still... damn good rates for UK hire.

Why is it that Brompton owners can not call their bike a bike?
"There is a problem with my Brompton"
"so what is up with your bike?"
"My Brompton..."
They are nice devices but it is as bad as people who continually refer to their iphone. It's just a fucking phone.
I call them by the type of bike, road, fixie skidder, 29er
How is your Brompton?
By your logic; everyone should refer to their bikes in the same way that you do?
Personally I use a mixed brand/type referencing system which is adjusted to suit the context of what I'm saying and the people I'm speaking too.

I would never refer to Dancing Rapha by anything other than his brand name.

Get it added to your own bike insurance or home insurance (assuming you have an overseas extension); you have an insurable interest so it shouldn't be a problem. Hope you haven't left already.

Just noticed on the insurance thread that you're with Hiscox which is great news, you should have no trouble getting them to sort you out.

who did you order with? I want one. I've developed a fear of ebay for this, its annoying. I keep wondering whos' stolen brompton i'd get. I think its that they're so, simillar to eachother. I know, its highly irrational.
But I also can't bear walking into evans. -

has anyone test rode or bought the new "tall person model"?
-
• #613
Looking at the measurements etc it shouldn't make that much difference, you've fit a normal M type with extended seatpost no problems I reckon

Give it a test ride.
There are some decent independent shop that stock Brompton than the usual Evans/CycleSurgery.

There are some decent independent shop that stock Brompton than the usual Evans/CycleSurgery.Sadly, in the case of my brompton main frame replacement, only Evans agreed to give me LCC discount on a special order. I did explain to my LBS that I would prefer to give them my buisness but they were not interested. Too much paperwork for too little margin I suppose... Like Jacqui walking into Evans is not what I love most, but on this occasion it was quite convenient...
I went to pick it up at lunch time.
Jacqui, I think Pheonix cycles are quite good as an independant brompton retailer, probably not the first time this is being said on here... Don't know if they do LCC discount though...

Soul is kindly loaning me a Brompton for a trip to Athens. However, I'm short of a way to transport it safely and the last thing I want is to chip his paint.
Has anyone got a Brompton B-bag that I can borrow for a week so that I can transport Soul's Brompton without harm.
If you do, and I can collect tomorrow, Monday (happy to collect in the evening if you need) or pick up early on Tuesday... it would be greatly appreciated.
PM me for quick response (email > phone alert).

Hi, I was fiddling with the gearing on a borrowed brompton and the clip on the spectro gear anchorage came out completly. How do I get it back in so it'll anchor the gear chain correctly again, I can get it in but it doesn't stop the gear indicator coming out
Here's a pic (top left bit)
thanks
Yeah. You've never been shy of sharing your brand choices in everyday bike conversation. Anyway, the Brompton has a very idiosyncratic ride, so referring to it as a folder doesn't really seem specific enough.
